Religion and tradition

To me, Religion always has been an enigma. Been brought up in a family where customs are a must even if u dnt agree with them, I have had disturbing questions about religion for a long period of time.till date i have not been able to understand any crap he so called spiritual gurus say. They say that god is one but they worship countless deities and each with its own rites. if its nothng but different form of god, why should one do rites differently? first of all te rites themselves are nothing but methods employed by our ancestors to make us still to some good things. i'll explain them, first of all the simple tradition that one should keep vibuthi, it was to make man realize that all earthly things come to meet the same end and be simple in life yet, we there would be a big chaos if one does not get special vibuthi !!!!And medically it removes water from sinus after a bath eliminating the possibility of getting headache or cold.
The other tradition of being wet while in temple(tats y u get drenched if u visit Ramaeshwaram) the body can absorb the vibrations well if its wet.in line with simple conductivity ideas. but none does that. one common stupidity i often find irritating is that people sitting after going to a temple. For god's sake,in those days temples were big and ur legs were tired 2 day u build a temple in 4 cents and still u sit blocking the small entrance dumbheads!!!
The religion instead of doing what it should have done has done the worst.it has created maniacas who are obsessed with nothing but traditions and worst they pass it o to their progeny's as well..i'll come with more a bit later

  1. It's all right to fret and fume about the religious radicals and their meaningless traditions..I am no spiritualist either, but the healing power(read as rahman),and the fear of guilt that religion teaches has kept this world functioning till date..I concur on your anti superstitious opinions but the tone used over certain traditions could have been more sober..there is a very thin line between skepticism and cynicism..

  2. Perhaps fear of god and the belief it/he gives is good. But still, One must also understand that the same belief drives people crazy killing each other. What is Religion and god worth if one kills to uphold his belief?

  3. God is man's greatest invention..

Every great invention has its side effects. the radicals propagate it by force, the cynical skeptics look only at the negatives, the free thinker analyses and gets the best out of it...

  4. How do you make free thinkers in a land where the only education you get is in fanatical madrassas or sangh mutts? If you were there, would you speak individualism?

  5. honestly reading ayn rand helped me..but its just matter of time a person figures out the truth...yeah madrassas can be negative inspirations for a quicker individualistic path...)

  6. How many get chance to read Ayn Rand even if they cud read hw many understand it in rght sense? Being indivualistic is also a sin acc to me. Hw many times we escape from our moral duties just by sayn those words?

  7. Not a lot........but

It's not about blindly being individualistic..a clever person wud figure out his unique path without any inspiration and distraction and yet remain morally n socially responsible to family, society etc..It's in the slight modifications in others thought do we make our own theories.. I won't live for any other person(except my own) and ask others to live for me...

  8. What's cleverness? dnt u thnk people who could baptise others to die for their sake arent clever? why didnt they choose morality then? u may not live for others but our soldiers live for us,die for all of us yet how many of us rembr them or atleast stand still for national anthem? I believ, in a society we all hav our places which are linked by a very thin thread. And we should all repsct that delicate balance.

  9. * i would like to reaffirm my comment(I think u missed the except my own part)..a person who believes all his fellow citizens as his own can be a soldier..I respect and salute him..And I boldly accept that I don't have the guts or I am selfish to be one..

The delicate balance that you mention cannot be attained by cynical criticism but acceptance towards positives and progressive anger towards social evils
